ANTHONY RABARAAnthony began working with Romana Kryzanowska in 1979 at the Pilates Studio on West 56th St. in New York City. Introduced to Romana because of a dance related injury, he rehabilitated and was invited By Romana to teach beside her. It was a time before Pilates text books and videos when each teacher learned all the exercises on all the equipment and had to execute them with proficiency. Anthony was one of the original 8 teachers, who were the first to be certified by Romana in the mid 1980s.
Anthony cites Romana's positive influence as the enduring force that stays with him daily. In his words, "I always refer to her as I teach. She was very generous with her knowledge to so many teachers and would spend many afternoon hours a week sharing her knowledge with us. I hope I can always be that generous. As Sari said of Romana, 'She brought out the best in everyone'. And it is true. One could not have asked for a better teacher." Anthony holds advanced degrees in Dance and Music.. He has run his own studio in Princeton, New Jersey since 1989 and also teaches eat TPNY. Besides conducting seminars and workshops, he is passionate when sharing his decades of experience with apprentices and teachers- helping to reveal the art and science of 'our work'. Anthony has a long history of working with clients who have physical issues (Muscular Dystrophy, MS, overextended ligaments). Three have been published in Pilates Style Magazine. This coming year he will be working with the U.S. National Rowing team at his Princeton Studio. |
